About Reskilling 4 employment

Reskilling 4 Employment (R4E) was officially announced by the European Round Table for Industry (ERT) in May 2021. ERT is a high level forum which brings together CEOs and Chairs from a cross-section of 60 European industrial & technology companies. Established in 1983, its objective is to build consensus between business leaders on key themes affecting business and society.

R4E was devised by ERT’s Committee for Jobs, Skills & Impact, over a period of sustained research, outreach and consultation, to identify how best to address reskilling & upskilling needs in the European Union. In launching R4E, the goal of this pan-European programme is to serve as a hub that stimulates partnerships that provide reskilling opportunities to unemployed and ‘at-risk’ workers, so they can find employment in new occupations that are in-demand.

R4E is an essential part of the European reskilling ecosystem, with the goal of reskilling 1 million Europeans by 2025. The ambition is very high, and we will scale-up in the current countries where R4E is already launched and are actively seeking to expand into new ones. We encourage additional companies, institutions, and public administrations to join us to urgently address this issue. Private-public cooperation will foster a more inclusive, sustainable, and fair digital society and economy.
